How to Clean Muddy Dog Paws After an Adventure
The car rolls in. The door swings wide. Kingsley brought the backyard inside.
Cat, our Mischief Manager, studies the muddy prints. “Evidence,” he says. Duchess, our Comfort Queen, settles in a dry spot. “I’ll oversee the cleanup from here.” Kingsley is already heading for the rug. Of course he is.
Wondering how to clean muddy dog paws? Start at the door, keep the cleanup calm, and check each paw before your furry adventurer heads inside.
Make a little cleanup station
Keep a towel and your chosen paw-cleaning supplies near the entrance. If Kingsley is still excited from the adventure, give him a moment to settle and keep him close while you clean, so muddy paws don’t tour the whole house first.
Clean gently, then check between the toes
Use a damp cloth or a pet paw cleaner according to its directions. The American Kennel Club recommends checking between a dog’s toes for dirt or debris and drying the paws thoroughly. Take a quick look for anything unusual, too. If you notice a cut or irritation, or you’re concerned, check with your veterinarian.
Our Pet Paw Cleaner Cup – Soft Bristle Foot Washer is one option for your cleanup kit. Use it gently and follow its product directions.
Then tackle the fur tumbleweeds
Once the paws are sorted, Cat may inspect the trail of fur as if he had nothing to do with it. Our Reusable Pet Hair Remover Roller is another option for the post-adventure cleanup.
The cleanup crew has spoken
Kingsley, our Director of Chaos, votes for one more lap around the yard. Cat, our Mischief Manager, votes to preserve the muddy prints as evidence. Duchess, our Comfort Queen, votes that someone else finish the job.
The adventure is over, the paws are checked, and the crew is home. That’s a successful outing by FurEver Friends standards.

Coming next: The paws are clean. Why is there still fur everywhere?
The mud is gone.
The paws are neat.
So who left all this fur
beneath my feet?
Kingsley: “I brought the outdoors in. Now I’m sharing my coat.”
Cat: “Finally. A suspect who confesses.”
Duchess: “Wake me when my blanket is clean.”

Because clean paws were only the beginning. Apparently, the couch has a case to file too.
